IPL Match Venues that will Host the 2025 Showpiece event

The season of good cheer is almost upon us. Well at least for Indian cricket fans.

The Indian Premier League, safe to say, among the most popular sporting leagues in the world, kicks off on 22nd March 2025. With 17 seasons behind us, the 18th season is on the cusp of beginning and this edition might bring more surprises than you think it can.

The Mega Auction took place in November 2024, reshuffling the majority of squads of all franchises, with a few teams opting to retain the core of their teams. This has meant that all the teams have the element of surprise within them, unlike the previous few editions.

While the franchises are ready to throw the odd shocker here and there, most venues hosting the IPL in 2025 remain the same. While home teams have the advantage on paper, well-balanced squads seldom have issues with the pitch put in front of them.

Keeping that in mind, here are all the venues that will host the showpiece IPL 2025 match event:

Eden Gardens, Kolkata
The venue will host the season opener when the Knight Riders take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Eden Gardens will also host this season’s Qualifier 2 and the IPL 2025 Finals.

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad
The home of the 2016 IPL winners Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium will host this edition’s Qualifier 1 & Eliminator in the Playoffs.

MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
The home of 5x IPL winners, the Chennai Super Kings.
The iconic stadium is all set to witness another season of a sea of yellows and of course the legendary MS Dhoni in action.

Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam
Like last year, the BCCI has decided that Vizag will be one of the three non-regular venues for this edition of the IPL.
The venue will act as the second home venue for the Delhi Capitals who will be playing two games here.

Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
The largest stadium in the world and the home to 1x IPL Champion, the Gujarat Titans.
The venue was also host to the recently concluded 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati
Another one of the non-regular venues selected by BCCI for the 2025 IPL season.
Like Delhi Capitals in Vizag, Rajasthan Royals will be playing 2 home games this season at this venue.

Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
Well, this venue needs no introduction, does it?
The iconic stadium, home to 5x time Champions Mumbai Indians, is where many legends have set foot, also hosting multiple showpiece events in modern-day cricket.

Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow
Home to the Lucknow Super Giants, also known as the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Established in 2017, this newly constructed stadium is one of the latest state-of-the-art facilities you will find across India. Under Risabh Pant’s captaincy, the Nawab’s will look to dictate the opposition with their vibrant style of play.

New PCA Stadium, New Chandigarh
The primary home to Punjab Kings in this edition of the IPL.
The Shreyas Iyer-led side will look to make the venue their fortress, having to play games on their secondary home soil (more on that later). Under Ricky Ponting, the team will look to make the most of their newly assembled squad this season.

Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur
Rajasthan Royals’ official home for the 2025 IPL season.
Like KKR, the Royals retained the majority core of their previous squad including Sanju Samson. Under his experienced captaincy, they will look to build upon last season’s momentum.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru
The home of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and one of only 3 teams to have played all the editions of IPL since its inauguration.
The landmark stadium, known as the Batters Paradise will be host and witness once again to stars like Virat Kohli in action.

Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi
The official home ground of the Delhi Capitals.
The Arun Jaitley Stadium has been hosting IPL games for a while now and its shorter boundaries will be a treat to the batters and the fans alike, who will look to win their first Championship under the stewardship of their new captain, Axar Patel.

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala
One of the few non-regular stadiums that has been around in the IPL for quite a while now.
The iconic venue, situated in the upper echelons of India, is known for its wind factor which suits and helps the bowlers. The stadium will be hosting 3 games this edition, acting as the second home for the Punjab Kings.

In total, 13 venues will be witnesses to the drama and excitement of the 2025 IPL action. One thing would be certain among all other things, these 13 venues wouldn’t be disappointed over the course of the next two and a half months in India.
